How I Discovered Somatic Therapy:
After dedicating years to raising my children and making the difficult decision to end my 34-year marriage, I found myself overwhelmed by grief and loss. Seeking healing, I immersed myself in Yoga Teacher Training, which deepened my connection with my body. As I became more present in my own skin, I realized that the body and mind are not separate in the healing process—they are deeply intertwined. Experiencing firsthand how a calm body fosters a calm mind, I felt inspired to explore this connection further and contribute meaningfully to my community.
After two decades in the mental health field, I realized that something was missing from the puzzle of healing. While cognitive-behavioral approaches offer valuable tools, they are not the only answer. My search for more holistic healing methods led me to Somatic Experiencing®, and I immediately felt a deep connection. This approach became a vital part of my personal healing journey and ignited a passion to integrate it into my work with clients.
As a Somatic Trauma Therapist, I specialize in healing developmental trauma and attachment wounds. I hold certifications in Somatic Experiencing®, Transforming Touch®, and Internal Family Systems® Therapy. I offer both in-person and online sessions, providing a supportive space for individuals struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, and depression—often rooted in developmental trauma.
My mission is to help people achieve nervous system regulation, fostering a deeper connection to themselves and their bodies. Through this process, clients regain emotional and physical resilience, vitality, and a renewed sense of capability.
Modalities in My Practice
The Transforming Touch® model, created by Dr. Stephen Terrell, focuses on touch-based regulation, accessible both in-person and remotely through Zoom (Transforming Intentional Touch®). This groundbreaking approach recognizes that conventional talk therapy and certain somatic techniques may fall short in addressing developmental trauma. By promoting regulation, this model supports personal growth, aids in healing early developmental disruptions, and enhances our capacity to thrive in life.
Somatic Experiencing® (SE), created by Dr. Peter Levine, is an effective method for addressing trauma and chronic stress. Unlike conventional methods, SE allows individuals to avoid reliving traumatic experiences. Instead, it softly directs the body to finish its innate fight, flight, or freeze responses, reinstating balance and resilience in the nervous system. I offer a nurturing environment that emphasizes body awareness, assisting clients in recognizing and releasing pent-up survival energy in a compassionate and supportive manner.Internal Family Systems® Therapist, (IFS) developed by Dr. Richard C. Schwartz, Ph.D., emphasizes the importance of welcoming all parts without exclusion, promoting a life of curiosity, exploration, and inclusion. The process is befriending, updating, and liberating parts from their burdens with compassion, and elevating Self into it’s intended leadership role.
My passion lies in facilitating change, transformation, and healing, empowering women to reclaim their vitality in life through Somatic Experiencing, Transforming Touch and IFS parts work.
